Salesman
Directed and produced by Albert and David Maysles, their documentary Salesman follows a band of hard-nosed bible salesmen on a sales drive in Florida. Methodically and unflinchingly it shows how american salemen are put on a rack of success, and to what limits these salesmen go in order to meet company dictated quotas. It also proves how accurately Willy Loman in Death of a Salesmen epitomizes the American corporate male in the late 1960s. Few works expose the operating costs of the American dream with more deadly wit.
