The assaulted dream
Every day thousands of people leave their impoverished Central American homelands to get in to the USA. Crossing the northern border of Guatemala to Mexico they embark like outlaws on one of the most dangerous migration routes in the world. The filmmaker travelled into this border region in the far south of Mexico, where for many migrants The American Dream becomes a Mexican nightmare right at the outset of the journey.
Social Interest
The cause of the journey is intriguing and at the same time despondent. Due to the poverty in their own country these people want to make a better life for themselves and their families. It is pitiful to see that despite the danger and the fact that almost all their attempts fail, they keep on trying to live The American Dream and they don’t give up.
