Story

French farmers are killing themselves in record numbers, driven to suicide by loneliness, loss of status and financial woes. The technical and accounting skills required of farmers these days has proved beyond many of the traditional agricultural workers, who feel increasingly left behind. Director Bergeon, the son of a farmer who committed suicide, returns to his roots in Southwest France to follow the Itards, a family of farmers. The story of the struggling family shows strong parallels with his own life and reflects the crisis engulfing farmers across Europe today.
