Louise, son pere ses meres, son frere et ses soeurs.
Hilariously confusing film about an extraordinary French family that will challenge your conception of marriage, living together, living apart/together or any other form of family relationship.
Social Interest
A story about an unusual French family. The central figure is a young woman called Louise who invites us to meet her family – her father, her two mothers, her step-mother, her brother and sisters. Francoise and Gerard have been in love for 44 years. They have three children. Sybille and Sylviane have been in love for 23 years. They wanted to have a child so they asked their friend Francoise to ‘lend’ them Gerard, her husband. And she said OK. So, Louise was born…
Historic Interest
The traditional conception of a family centres on a marriage between a man and woman, with strictly-defined gender-roles and children. The man typically has responsibility for income and support, the woman for home and family matters. In the western world, this family structure is closely related to a Christian view of life and marriage. Some decades ago, however, unconventional family forms began to appear in the western world that, in time, could grow into new social institutions.
Scenes
Extraordinary Family
Louise tells about the confusion among others when she talks about her family situation.
A Modern Family
Louise’s mothers are lesbian but they really wanted to have children so their friend Gerard helped them to become pregnant and became Louise’s father. Gerard is also married and has children of his own. In this scene they talk about how all the parents tried to explain the family situation to their children.
Difficulties
Louise’s mums talk about the decision and the difficulties they had to cope with such as how they asked Gerard, and his wife, to become the father of their child.
Women’s commission
In the 1970 the women were part of the feminist movement and nowadays Lea, Francoise and Gerards daughter, is active in the same movement.
From Strait to Gay
Sylviane, who was hetero, tells us she became gay when she met Sybille because she couldn’t resist her.
Coming Out
Sybille and Sylviane talk about their coming in out.
Adoption
Finally it’s possible to make it legal that Louise officially has two mothers.
