For the local population of Napels, Italy the Vesuvius is much more than just a natural phenomenon. The volcano is a representation of life and death, the bringer of fertility and danger. In this film, the director interviews people who are faced with the Vesuvius on a daily basis, and reveal their fascination with and hostility towards the volcano from a scientific, artistic and agricultural point of view.
