    What is the story of Rex Gildo, the handsome schlager singer artist, a charming man with a warm voice and perfect white smile? Ever since the1960s this German singer has conquered the hearts of thousands, mainly female, fans with famous love songs like Fiesta Mexicana. However, behind the merry go happy facade of the world of schlager music, not everything is what it appears to be. Gildos life, personal problems and his sudden death in 1999 are reconstructed through the memories of Gildos schlager colleagues, friends and loyal fans.

    The schlager music had its glory days in the 1960s and 1970s. In Germany, artists like Rex Gildo have gained huge amounts of success by singing songs about love, and the joys and sorrows of their lives. In this film schlager singers Dennie Christian , Peter Orloff, Freddy Breck and Michael Holm are interviewed about their colleague Gildo.
