Birth by Sandrine Dryvers

In Belgium, France and many other European countries, delivery is in the hands of specialists and takes frighteningly often place in hospitals. Childbirth without medical intervention is seen as high-risk. But why do we look at it this way? Is it possible to give birth in the natural modus? Is it still possible today, when the conditions are good for the child and mother to give birth without surgery? Birth (Naissance) examines the midwifery model of childbirth and the medical obstetrical model of childbirth ( more here) and makes us wonder why we let the medical world influance childbirth in such a way that we are afraid to let women give birth the natural way.
