After Videlas coupe d etat in 1976, the military junta in Argentina heavily suppressed their political opponents in the Dirty War. During the regime, thousands of people were abducted by the military and were often murdered. They are referred to as the Disappeared. Activist groups like Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo and HIJOS are still trying to give a voice to the lost victims of the regime and their family members.
