Controversy

The Romanian village Glod and its inhabitants were filmed by a camera crew working for the satirical movie Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. Actor Sasha Baron Cohen has been heavily criticized for making this movie as the movie was supposedly homophobic, sexist and antisemitic. On the other hand, Baron Cohen won the 2007 Golden Globe Award for Best Actor: Musical or Comedy, as Borat, and the film itself was nominated for Best Motion Picture in the same category.
