Ave Maria
A must see for anyone interested in religion, Ave Maria is a celebration of the most important woman in Christianity. 2000 Years after the death of her son Jesus Christ, the Virgin Mary still has the ability to inspire comfort and give hope to milions of people all over the world. In this enchanting film, director Nouchka van Brakel follows contemporary worshippers and admirers of Mary in the Netherlands, Spain, Poland and Turkey.
Religious Interest
In todays western postmodern world we live in a largely secular society where Christianity is no longer an absolute power. However, in this film we see the Christian tradition and personal emotions coming together during, for example, the Semana Santa in Spain and the ritual with the Black Madonna of Czestochowa in Poland. In every country and in every area, the celebration of the Virgin Mary has been adopted in its own, local way.
