Love and Sex in China by Anne Loussouarn
In the documentary Love and Sex in China we get a glimpse of the culture surrounding partnership and marriage in China. In contrast to the past people tend to find a partner at a later age because of the prosperity bringing education and careers. As a result of this the aging singles have to resort to lessons in the art of sedution, marriage markets and speed dating to get married before the age of 30, when people are considered as obsolete. The documentary continues to show a cultural tradition for the rich and powerful that has reappeared since China’s newfound economic prosperity: the concubine. The women are mistresses who provide their love and services in exchange for luxuries.
