Angels on our shoulder by Spitz, Andy

On Saturday 17 march 2008, 4 days after xenophobic violence erupted in Alexandra, South Africa, the squatter camps and townships around Germiston and Primrose exploded. Over 2 weeks of country wide violence, 62 people were killed and more than 200 000 were displaced. This documentary shows how survivors attempt to rebuild their lives while in a displacement camp. The focus is on children and the effect the situation has had on them. Young Benita Dumba painfully recounts how her best friend was murdered before her eyes. It is painful and confronting to witness these childrens lack of a carefree childhood.
